Heightened Scrutiny Screening
We aren't running this event, but we are all about sharing fantastic events like this!
In partnership with the producers of the documentary "Heightened Scrutiny ", Mama Dragons, PFLAG-Westminster, St. Paul's UCC, and McDaniel College's Department of Communication & Cinema are offering a free screening of this award-winning film.
It follows Chase Strangio, the first openly trans lawyer to argue before the Supreme Court, as he fights Tennessee’s ban on gender-affirming care in the landmark United States v. Skrmetti case.
The film isn't just a legal drama; it exposes how mainstream media coverage has fueled anti-trans legislation, featuring voices like Laverne Cox and Elliot Page. It’s an urgent look at the human lives behind the headlines.
The event will include a panel discussion moderated by Dr. Erin Whatley, Associate Professor of Communication & Cinema at McDaniel College.
