Inaugural Event Occurred on June 5, 2021

York County Pride, presented by WellSpan Health in 2021, celebrates the full inclusion of ALL wonderfully diverse citizens in ALL aspects of civic life; regardless of race, age, sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression, mental or physical ability, social status, or economic status. The 2021 event, held virtually on June 5th, featured speakers, music, dance, theater, poetry, spoken word, and performance art, retail vendors, history, and education.
York County Pride, formerly known as Equality Fest, was inspired by the May 20, 2014 decision of the U.S. Federal District Court allowing Pennsylvania marriages for those in the LGBTQIA+ community; the June 26, 2015 Supreme Court’s legalization of same-sex marriages in the whole United States; and the June 15, 2020 Supreme Court decision holding that federal law Title VII prohibits employment discrimination against LGBTQIA+ workers.

York County Pride Memorialization

The Rainbow Rose Center mourns those of the LGBTQIA+ community and allies who have passed on.  As the organizers of York County Pride, we are grateful for the opportunity to celebrate our community and commemorate those loved ones we have lost. We offered the community the opportunity to memorialize loved ones as part of this virtual event, which streamed on Saturday, June 5, 2021.

York County Pride Performer Voting and Tipping

We were excited to feature a dozen local performers during our event.  This year, the Rainbow Rose Center has introduced the People’s Pride Awards to encourage performers to put on their best show for you!

Congratulations to the People’s Pride Award Winners:

1st Place: Krystal Younglove and Nova Nyx, their performance of “Start Wearing Purple” was brilliantly done and a fiery delight!
2nd Place: Lydia Peters, her many years on the stage in numerous dance competitions and performances have really paid off.
3rd Place: Jace Eliot’s heartfelt original poems touching upon his transitional journey, “Mirror,” and the meaning of love, “Love is: Wave the Flag,” brought tears to many eyes.
