 actual day of Juneteenth\, so once again they will gather on Thursday\, Ju
 ne 19\, with set-up beginning at 5:00 p.m. and the event running from 6:00
  to 8:00 p.m. As in previous years\, S. Penn Street between W. Market Stre
 et and Mason Avenue will be closed for the celebration.\n\nUnion Evangelic
 al Lutheran Church will be providing free food\, drinks\, kids' activities
 \, and entertainment.\n\nJuneteenth marks the day—June 19\, 1865—when the 
 last enslaved Black Americans in Galveston\, Texas\, finally learned they 
 were free\, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was is
 sued. It is a day of celebration\, remembrance\, and commitment:\n\n• Cele
 brating freedom and the enduring strength\, creativity\, and contributions
  of Black communities.\n• Remembering injustice and the long road from sla
 very to freedom.\n• Renewing our shared responsibility to work for racial 
 justice\, equity\, and liberation for all.\n\nAs we celebrate Juneteenth\,
  we also celebrate the people and the history of York.\n\nOur hope is that
  this block party will be a space of joy\, solidarity\, and healing\, wher
 e we continue the work of building a just and inclusive community.\n\nWe h
 ope to see you on June 19!
